Information You Submit
Two kinds of information are most likely to be provided directly by a visitor: search terms and messages.
Search queries
A word, name, place, or other query entered into a search widget is sent to the third-party provider that operates that widget. The site itself does not maintain a local search database on these pages. The provider may apply its own retention, account, pricing, and privacy rules, so review that provider's notice before entering sensitive information.
Contact messages
If you send a message or email to the operator, the message, address, and related details may be kept for as long as needed to answer the question, track a correction, resolve a technical problem, or document a legitimate site issue. Messages may also be retained when a legal or security reason requires it.
Automatic Technical Data and Cookies
Hosting, security, analytics, and advertising systems may receive routine technical details when a page loads. These details can include:
- IP address or an approximate network location;
- browser type, version, and language;
- device category and operating system;
- pages viewed and approximate time on a page;
- referring page when the browser supplies it;
- date, time, and basic request information.
Cookies and similar technology
Cookies or comparable tools may help a feature work, remember a preference, measure use, detect abuse, or support advertising. Browser settings can block or delete them, although a blocked cookie may change how a search or display feature behaves. A provider's own cookie notice controls cookies it places after a visitor follows its link.
How Information Is Used
Information handled through the site is used for ordinary site operations and communication. Depending on the feature, it may be used to:
- keep pages available and reasonably secure;
- send a submitted query to the provider selected for that search feature;
- respond to a message or investigate a correction request;
- understand which pages are useful and improve navigation;
- diagnose errors, outages, abuse, and other technical problems;
- measure or deliver advertising through a partner.
The site does not hold the Lemhi County jail roster or decide a person's custody or legal status. A search result, message, or technical signal does not become an official county record merely because it passes through this website.
Outside Links and Providers
These pages link to the Lemhi County Sheriff page, which identifies Sheriff John Bennett and the Lemhi County Jail, the county records form, the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) search, Salmon Police, Idaho courts, VINE, federal locators, archives, newspapers, and outside search providers. Those organizations control their own records, security, cookies, privacy practices, and retention. Following a link transfers the visitor to that organization's policies.
Search partners, analytics companies, hosting providers, and advertising services may process information on their own systems. This site cannot promise that an outside tool is current, available, secure, or accurate, and a link is not an endorsement of every result or service offered there.
Who May Receive Information
The operator does not sell personal information as a standalone list. Information may nevertheless be handled by the parties needed to provide a feature, run the site, or meet a legal obligation:
- the search partner that receives a query submitted through its widget;
- hosting, security, and analytics providers that help operate or measure the pages;
- advertising networks and measurement partners that deliver or assess ads;
- the site operator or service providers handling a visitor message;
- law-enforcement or other government bodies when a valid subpoena, court order, warrant, or other legal process requires disclosure.
Security Is a Best Effort
The operator uses reasonable administrative and technical measures for information handled through the site. No internet service is completely secure. The operator cannot promise that a provider, transmission, server, or stored message will never be attacked, interrupted, lost, or exposed.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor has sent information may contact the operator and request deletion of that submission, subject to any legal or security reason to retain it.
Choices and Data Requests
Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification, a visitor may ask whether the operator holds a message or contact record, request a copy, seek correction, request deletion, or object to a particular use. Some technical, security, tax, or legal records may need to remain for a period of time. Send a clear request through Get in Touch and identify the message, date, address, or other detail needed to locate it.
Changes to This Notice
This notice may be revised when the site changes, a provider changes its practices, or applicable requirements develop. The posted version becomes effective when it appears on this page. Visitors with an ongoing message or request should review the version in effect when they continue that interaction.
